Let's talk wedding photography in Los Angeles!

We cover all weddings with two photographers. On a basic level, it's one of us for the bride and the other for the groom, but there's more to it than that. One of us is up front getting close-up shots, while the other can go to the back of the room for the big wide picture. During big moments, like the "kiss" or "garter toss," shots, two of us can get the same shot from different angles.

Our approach to covering a Los Angeles and Orange County wedding is to tell the complete story of the day, capturing every detail, to help you relive the memories of what you saw--and what you didn't see. Jeff is a long-time photojournalist and Sam a recent graduate of the California Institute of the Arts, so we bring a mixture of photojournalism, classic portraiture and cutting edge art feel to each photo job.

We have a big 2010 coming up, with Manhattan Beach weddings, Palos Verdes weddings, Los Angeles weddings, Redondo Beach weddings, Torrance weddings, Orange County weddings, Marina Del Rey weddings and Long Beach weddings on tap. We're excited about return engagements soon at the Palos Verdes La Venta Inn and Palos Verdes Wayfarers Chapel, Long Beach's Queen Mary, San Pedro's Mary, Star of the Sea, the Redondo Beach Portofino, Orange's Jones Victorian Estate, El Segundo's Automobile Driving Museum and Redondo Beach's Crowne Plaza.

We're based in beautiful Manhattan Beach, and work most often in Palos Verdes, Redondo Beach, Torrance and Los Angeles, but have been known to occasionally leave Paradise by the Sea for gigs in Orange County, the San Fernando Valley and even Santa Barbara.

But enough about us. We prefer to let the pictures tell the story. Please click the various links and take a look for yourself. We'd love to help you with your wedding photography and video. Give us a call at 310-594-8074 or e-mail us.

We're a father/son photo team, so when it comes to "generation to generation" we know of what we speak. The same goes for Bar/Bat Mitzvah photography.

We have photographed over 200 Los Angeles and Orange County Bar and Bat Mitzvahs since 2003, at the biggest Los Angeles synagouges--like Valley Beth Shalom, Sinai Temple, Temple Israel of Hollywood, Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills and L.A.'s Temple Beth Am & Temple Isaiah, to smaller congregations like Congregation Ner Tamid of Palos Verdes, Temple Israel of Long Beach and Santa Ana's Temple Beth Shalom.

For 2010, we have Bar/Bat Mitzvahs scheduled (so far) for Congregation Tikvat Jacob in Manhattan Beach, the Redondo Beach Jewish Community Center, Temple Beth El of San Pedro, Culver City's Temple Akiba, Temple Israel of Long Beach, Sinai Temple, Orange County's Temple Beth Shalom, Beth Shir Sholom of Santa Monica and Wilshire Boulevard Temple of Los Angeles.

Generally, we like to meet with the family 90 minutes before the service begins on Saturday morning, for Bar/Bat Mitzvah and family portraits. That is--if the temple allows photography on Saturday. Temple Isaiah, Temple Israel and Temple Emanuel do--Valley Beth Shalom, Congregation Tikvat Jacob and Ner Tamid do not.

So in that case, we meet on another day for the photography, usually about a week before the event. Or the day before, in the case of Ner Tamid.

At our shoots, lighting is very important to us, and we bring along a full collection of gear (to think it used to be just a camera and flash!) to make the room come alive. After the portrait session, it's to the back (if we can shoot) where we put our big 70-200mm 2.8 L Canon lens on our Canon 5D Mark II for close-ups, with a 24mm-70mm 2.8 L or 16-35mm 2.8 L Canon lens on our second camera. This is usually followed by pictures of the kiddish lunch, and then the Big Party!

Groups! More family pictures. The hora! Celebration. Wild dancing shots.

We invite you to take a look at our various Bar/Bat Mitzvah galleries, as well as our blog, where we regularly post new shots. Better yet--give us a call or e-mail and make an appointment to come see our work (prints, albums, the whole magilla) in person.
